Once upon a time the only technological device that required an operating system was a personal computer, then with the arrival of smartphones things changed. Initially it was just one or two high-end mobile phones that ran on operating systems, but with the success of these particular models more and more models started using smartphone operating systems. One smartphone operating system that has truly revolutionized the whole idea of a mobile phone is Android.

Android OS Launched by Google, Android was designed to take the smartphone industry by storm and it did precisely that. After the initial success of Android run phones by HTC, more and more smartphone manufacturers got onboard with the project. This resulted in Android becoming the most widely used smartphone in the market, holding more than fifty percent of the smartphone market share.

 Open Source Nature and Third Party Developers:

 The open source nature of Android allows independent third party developers to further develop Android’s programming and create independent third party apps for Android. This ensures constant improvement and new content for Android and maximizes the user experience. As a result of this constant development and innovation, Android has been adapted to work on technological devices other than smartphones. Android has become the core operating systems of many other devices through the development of niche Android applications.

 Niche Android Applications:

 Third party developers have developed many niche Android applications which has made it possible for Android to become the operating system of other modern technological devices, such as:

    - Laptops
    - Smartbooks
    - Wristwatches
    - Car CD/DVD players
     - Game Consoles
    - Vehicle SatNav Systems
    - Treadmills

      All these devices are now operated on Android operating system. What started out as a smartphone operating system has revolutionized technology. The self-driving car project of Google is operated by Android operating system; this shows to us the potential of this ingenious operating system. Other than this, Android has countless other apps for all purposes. From parental control and employee monitoring apps to gaming apps, Android offers its users a marvelous experience.
      Conclusion

       The level of trust in Android runs so deep that the US Department of Defense has cleared Android operated devices in its Security Check; showing to us that Android operating system is top of the line and an extremely secure system. This along with the fact that Android phones are much more cost effective than its rivals and offer a more stimulating and fulfilling user experience makes Android a preferred choice for many users.

      Blockbuster Canada To Close Remaining 253 Stores, YouTube Movies Comes To Canada

      Toronto - Blockbuster Canada will be closing down its remaining stores by the end of the year. Grant Thornton Ltd., the accounting firm that was selected in May to oversee the movie rental chain’s receivership proceedings, stated in a news release Wednesday that it is seeking an order on Sept. 6 from the Ontario Superior Court of Justice at a hearing to wind down the video store’s operations and shut down the remaining 253 stores. The firm explained that they could not locate a suitable acquirer to make the necessary investments into Blockbuster Canada.
