Friday

Hotel: Arrive mid-afternoon and check into your hotel. Consider The Minster, ideally situated in the city center and boasting beautifully decorated rooms, full English breakfast, and a touch of historic charm. They routinely offer specials for romantic weekend breaks.

Explore: Once you're settled, purchase your ticket for an open-top bus tour with City Sightseeing. Bus tours will run every 20-30 minutes (every 12 minutes tomorrow and Sunday) and will run for about an hour. The tour will cost GBP 10 and help you get your bearings for the rest of the weekend. In addition, your ticket will be valid until mid-afternoon on Sunday, so you'll be able to hop on and off as you like over the course of the weekend.

Dine: Drake's Fish & Chips offers some of the best and most well-known fish and chips in the region. It's an absolute must for a Friday night meal. Grab it to go and head outside if the weather cooperates. If not, eat in at your hotel and you'll be ready to start your busy weekend fresh tomorrow morning.

Saturday

Awake to a full-English breakfast at your hotel on Saturday morning. Expect to spend most of the day strolling between sights, though you can utilize the bus from yesterday (don't forget your ticket) if you choose.

10 AM - Noon: Spend Saturday morning at York Minster, the must-see sight in York. Be sure to walk around outside to get a feel for the size and time that went into the creation of the Minster. Pay for entry into York Minster, with a tour optional.

see it first hand from Clifford's Tower, where you'll also get some of the best views of the city.

Evening Activity: Visit the entrance to the city center and you'll get wonderful pictures of the remaining border walls. If time allows, consider walking along the walls.

Dinner & Drinks: There's no shortage of available options for dinner, drinks, and music on a Saturday night in York. Make reservations for a late evening meal at Akbar's for the best Indian food in the region. Akbar's is located in the city center and within walking distance of your hotel. Stop after dinner at any one of the local pubs for a pint, many which will also offer music on a Saturday night.

Sunday

Sleep in on Sunday morning and enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your hotel before you check out and explore the city one last time.

10 AM - Noon: Choose from either the Jorvik Viking Museum or the York Dungeon this morning. Both are within walking distance of the hotel, though you could still utilize your hop-on, hop-off bus pass this morning. Entry fees are required at both museums.

Lunch/Tea: Lunch or tea at Betty's is a must in Yorkshire, both for the meal and drink themselves as well as for the experience.

Optional Afternoon: If time allows before your departure, head to the National Railway Museum, conveniently located near the train station as you head out of the city. Children and adults alike will enjoy and appreciate this free museum and a glimpse of the railway history of the UK.
